Credenhill Court Rest Home is a friendly home which attempts to encourage good relationships between staff and Residents alike. You will be given thorough induction training to prepare you for your role and we aim to ensure you feel welcome and able to freely ask for help and support. POSITION: SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT RESPONSIBLE TO: CARE MANAGER & DEPUTY CARE MANAGER PURPOSE OF POSITION: • To promote and practice person centered care at all times ensuring that the complete needs of our Residents are met in line with their written plan of care. • To develop and promote positive relationships with Residents families and friends, visiting professionals and the local community. • To ensure the Home operates in accordance with all company policies and procedures. • To comply with all relevant legislation in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Health and Social Care Act 2008. • To lead a small team of staff ensuring adequate support and training needs are identified and provided. • To undertake the Supervision and Induction of Care Staff and new employees. • To assist the Management team with the care assessment process and ensure care plans and all documentation is completed, monitored and reviewed accordingly. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • To ensure Residents physical, mental, emotional, social and cultural needs are met. To offer on-going reassurance and the support required to allay apprehensions relating to individual needs. To be sympathetic and allow the appropriate time needed for each individual. • To promote the safety and well being of our Residents and to safeguard them from abuse. To encourage staff to be aware of and to adhere to the ‘whistleblowing policy’. • To support Residents to positively manage their mental and physical health. • To respect and actively promote individuals rights, opinions and values and to promote independence in every way possible. • To respect the privacy and dignity of our Residents at all times. • To support Residents who may require end of life care in line with the specific guidelines identified in care plans. • To create a safe, homely and comfortable environmental for our Residents to live in. • To observe the code of confidentiality on and off duty at all times. • To be responsible for keeping all recording procedures, observations up to date and to ensure all relevant information is recorded clearly and accurately, this will include; medication records, dietary requirements and assessments and charts, daily care records, pressure area care, handovers. This list is not exhaustive. • To act as a keyworker to 2 Residents ensuring that you have regular 1:1 meetings and to update allocated care plans at least monthly ensuring current care needs are reflected. • To ensure care staff are aware of individuals documented care needs and support them as required with updating care plans. • To liaise with visiting professionals such as G.P’s, District Nurses, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers etc. • To report all accidents and near misses and ensure all documentation including accident reports and hazard logs are completed adequately. • To be fully conversant with all fire evacuation procedures and direct the staff under your leadership in event of a fire. • To promote good infection control practices and ensure that all staff are compliant with the Homes infection control policies and procedures. • To promote anti-discriminatory practice and equality and diversity throughout your work. • To display excellent communicational skills both verbal and written to ensure effective communication with Residents, staff and all visitors to the Home. • To promote and support team work thus promoting good working relationships. • To arrange 1:1 supervision meetings with your key care staff six times per year under the direction of the Care Manager. • To complete on-call duties at least once per month where you are available to cover staff sickness at short notice and deputise for the management staff. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • To arrive for duty punctually and adhere to the Homes clocking in procedures. • To observe good personal hygiene and personal appearance in order to positively promote the Home. • To be aware of your personal conduct on or off duty thus reflecting the high standards of the Home • To understand and abide by the General Social Care Council’s Code of Conduct.
